Quality Oil
Workspace
With a legacy built on integrity, service, and community, Quality Oil Company (QOC) sought to modernize 11,000 SF of its corporate headquarters in Winston-Salem, NC. As a company with deep roots and a forward-looking vision, the redesign focused on creating a space that reflects their heritage while supporting a dynamic, collaborative workplace for the future. Like many office spaces of the 1970s, the original headquarters layout featured a departmental organization with tall cubicle partitions that stifled collaboration and limited access to natural light. At the heart of the office, a simple yet impactful panelized wood core serves as the central hub for formal collaboration spaces.

First, the space was opened up by removing unnecessary block walls and outdated partitions, allowing for an abundance of natural light and creating a sense of openness. This reconfiguration introduced a clear, cohesive parti that encourages communication and movement throughout the space.
The second step focused on revitalizing the interiors with elements that celebrate QOC’s heritage and foster pride among employees. Departmental colors were introduced for wayfinding and visual distinction, providing a subtle nod to the company’s history and identity while making the space intuitive and user-friendly.
Throughout the headquarters, graphic walls highlight Quality Oil’s mission statement and heritage, inspiring employees and visitors alike with the company’s core values. These walls celebrate the company’s commitment to service and community, ensuring its rich history is woven into the fabric of the modern workspace.
By blending functionality with a strong sense of identity, the redesigned Quality Oil Company headquarters successfully bridges the past and the future. It’s a space that honors the company’s long-standing legacy while providing a vibrant, collaborative environment for its employees to thrive and innovate.
